Pic: Rose in her interview at Issaquah highlands Eco-market says,"It takes a lot more practice and process to do something that is less harmful but it's always worth it"

What is your idea?

Rose: My idea comes from trying to use what the Earth provides, and then making color on different types of fabric and accessories and clothes. So everything I do is naturally dyed with either flowers, plants, or food waste, and then its gone through a process to make it live and stay on the fabric. Everything is individually hand dyed, and it all uses exactly what's from the Earth so it's not harmful, and it's not harmful for your skin either.

How did you come up with your idea?

Rose: When I was in college, I was in textile studies, and I really wanted to create a line that was Eco-friendly and sustainable. I stumbled upon a book that taught me how to naturally dye, and that's where it all started. I used leaves and different plants around my college campus, and I've been doing it for the past 7 or so years.

If you were going to give one piece of advice to a family who is considering going down the Eco friendly path, what would that be?

Rose: Definitely just try it and experiment and just keep going for it. I would definitely recommend it because it's totally worth it. It's a lot of work because it takes a lot more practice and process to do something that is less harmful but it's always worth it.

What else do you think humanity needs to do in order to make our world clean?

Rose: Education. I think people need to definitely be aware of how harmful some of the actions that people take can be for the future and for the future of the next generation. Just educating on different small ways that you can break out of some old habits and that it really goes a long way.
